Googles Upcoming Algorithm Update

Increasing the Emphasis on Mobile

Google will be updating their algorithm again in April and this time around they will increase their emphasis on mobile friendliness. With the number of mobile users overtaking those who use desktops to surf the web, having a mobile friendly site is a must! Google will begin penalizing sites that are breaking their mobile rules in April and they have provided a guide of common mistakes to avoid.

The following mistakes have been provided from Google as a guideline of what not to do:

  • Blocked JavaScript, CSS and image files
  • Unplayable content
  • Faulty redirects
  • Mobile-only 404s
  • App download interstitials
  • Irrelevant cross-links
  • Slow mobile pages

Some of these mistakes are easy to understand. For example, we all know what a slow mobile page is and how frustrating it is for a page to take a long time to load. However, some of these pitfalls that Google warns against are complicated and may have very little meaning to you as an HVAC company owner.

The bottom line, if you do not have a website that operates smoothly on mobile devices (easily navigable, loads quickly, aesthetically pleasing, coded properly) Google will soon be doling out penalties to your site which will effect your placing on Google’s search results page.

Our team provides mobile friendly sites to our clients at no extra cost. Every site we design is created so that the entire site can be easily viewed and navigated on any device. We will handle all the details Google is calling for. Talk to us about how to ensure your site is not penalized in April.
